It’s the “If You Think You Can Do Better” Home Page Comic Offer

March 7th, 2007

Ok. I just posted my first-ever comic on le Hõm Pãj:

Crawled Rock

Is this even the slightest bit amusing to anybody else but me?

I wonder.

As I was posing this question to Ron (of the Hill People) a moment ago, I momentarily entertained a defensive mentality and thought “Well, if they think that they can do better…” and there it was; “let them”. Why not? I suggested as much to Ron and he agreed, so here it goes:

The Offer
———
Send us your comic via email (Roberto Flores where are you!). If we like it, we’ll put it in rotation on the Home Page, with a link (separate window of course - we’re dedicated capitalists here y’know :) ) to the destination of your choice, as long as that destination is not something, y’know, Bad* (or unsavory).

Your hard-earned and greatly-appreciated funds have made possible the repair of some broken elements and new functions in the Serial Number Registry, as well as the resurrection of the old wiki and the addition of the new wiki. Now we are free to pursue some other fixes as well as several new elements about which we are very excited. So, from all of us at the G503 Development Headquarters, a very sincere thank you.

MVPA Vendor Awareness Campaign

August 8th, 2005

Due to the recent controversies surrounding the actions and tactics of the MVPA Board of Directors, which many feel constitutes a serious lack of due process in management, the following Supply Line Advertisers and MVPA Associate Members have withdrawn their advertising from the current issue of Supply Line Magazine as a means of publically expressing their displeasure at the antics of the management of the MVPA. Most of us tried to submit ads with messages voicing our concerns as a means of informing the membership; these ads were rejected by the Supply Line staff. As Supply Line made it evident that they will not accept paid advertising messages which attempt to inform, engage and involve the membership, some of these advertisers will continue to withhold advertising submissions until such time as the Board of Directors improves it’s responsiveness and openness to the membership.

The following list of Advertisers have continued to show their integrity and convictions in the cause of promoting Membership Rights within the MVPA. We urge you to actively support these MVPA Members and Advertisers.

Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts
Pizzoferrato Enterprises/Weebee Webbing - Canvas, Webbing and related Hardware
Rich Miller, Riv-Rad - M151 Parts, Gamma Goat Parts, misc parts
Dave Uhrig - Military Vehicle Sales and Appraisals
Brent Mullins Jeep Parts
Dennis Spence, Portrayal Press - High Quality Military Vehicle Manuals
D&L Bensinger - Replacement Bodies and Sheetmetal, Parts and Restoration
Robert Notman - Technical Publications, calendar and photo reprints
Rick Larsen - Military Stencils and Marking Kits
Dave Ahl - Back Issues of Military Vehicles Magazine, Misc
Red Ball Military Vehicle Show and Swap Meet
Jeff and Jae Hain-Matson, Front Line Military Vehicles - M Series Parts

If we have missed any regular advertisers that support this boycott, please forward your info to boycott@g503.com.

If you follow the long threads on the MVPA message board, you will see we are promoting membership growth, involvement and membership rights.

We feel the club in general is a fine organization worth saving, as such we and many other concerned members are working diligently to overcome member complacency and voter apathy.

We feel that by informing and involving all concerned club members we can create the atmosphere for a positive change within the MVPA board.

Some of the current Board members are sympathetic to this cause. We would hope that through the voice of the election process we can make positive change.

Remember to vote!

Red Ball Military Vehicle Show and Flea Market

August 8th, 2005

Red Ball Military Transport Club is holding our annual Military Vehicle Rally and Flea Market at the “West End” Fairgrounds, Gilbert, PA. on Friday and Saturday September 23 and 24, 2005. This event is affectionately referred to as the old “Tobyhanna” show. This is our third year at Gilbert and it is a most “show friendly” place you will ever attend. There is lots of SHADE and indoor facilities, even for vendors if desired. You can bring the whole family in your recreational vehicle or with your camping gear. Camp within the grounds of the show. Its all LAWNS — no dirt anywhere! Electric and water hookups surround the site. There are indoor facilities (reserve early) and open/covered buildings to protect that precious restoration. Re-enactors, radio clubs, etc., are welcome, but no firing. No live ammo or guns. Lots of catered food and beverages on site. Indoor toilets.

Vendors MUST stay until Saturday evening. Picnic at 5:00 PM. We expect over 100 vehicles (free half track rides) and 200 vendor tables! Vendor space must be reserved and PAID in advance. This is a rain or shine event. $3.00 admission. One free admittance for each vendor/table. Awards for best Military Vehicles. Factory, Motor Pool Ready and Combat ready. This is a 100 acre site, all fenced and security on site. Call Scott or JoAnne Sebring to reserve vendor space and for info. 570-421-2950 or Fax 570-421-3350.

UPDATE — all those bringing a Half-track or a Weasel (these are the showcase vehicles this year) will be awarded, from the Red Ball Club $ 100.00 for a halftrack and $ 50.00 for bringing a Weasel. Additional Special awards will be given for the best overall Tracked vehicles. Call John Headley for particulars and questions 973-479-3353. See you there!

The MVPA and Your Vote

June 18th, 2005

Fellow g503.com Community Members,

It is not often that we feel an urgent need to bring to your attention a current discussion topic on the g503 forums. Some of you are aware and active in this discussion. Others have interests on specific message forums and do not “read the mail” so to speak on other forums that they think do not pertain to them, some infrequently visit the g503.com message forums and have no idea of important issues that arise from time to time.

We want to bring to your attention an important, time sensitive topic on a New Forum MVPA Discussions. This forum evolved as a result of ongoing dialogue concerning the MVPA’s Convention in Duluth MN this August. The Convention topic took a path, which led to the current heated discussion, which concerns past and present actions by the MVPA’s Board of Directors and Nominating Committee; the spark that ignited the flame has been a long smoldering issue that Associate (Business) Members and many General Members have had with certain MVPA rules and policies. Due to the recent news that the Nominating Committee is working to prevent a well-known, popular Current Board Member from seeking re-election, this has evolved into a fully engulfed discussion; often very heated, never dull.

Many issues have been brought up concerning seemingly questionable past and current actions of the Board. MVPA Bylaws and Policies as well as the Missouri Statutes that govern actions of Not for Profit Organizations are being openly discussed and compared to the current realities of the MVPA. Options are being offered and discussed dealing with members rights in election matters towards a beneficial and positive change of direction.

As it’s apparent that these types of issues can arise due to general membership complacency and membership apathy at election time, we strongly urge you to become involved in this discussion and familiarize yourself with the issues. Past election totals support our contention of voter apathy; in an organization of 10,000 or so members, the ballot return rate is less than 1000 or 10%. This rate of member participation in the direct voice in the management of an organization that you own, is in a truly sad state of affairs.

If you are a current MVPA member and are outraged by the affairs of the organization, please get involved and exercise your rights of speaking your opinion by participating in the ongoing discussions and the current poll on the MVPA Discussion Forums. As the election ballots will be attached to the next issue of “Supply Line we urge you to not procrastinate. Do Not Reduce your right to vote by simply adding the magazine and Ballot to the reading rack. In the near future, once the Slate of approved candidates has been published, g503.com will host candidate qualification for your review and consensus, we as a group can then push these candidates that most closely match our own ideals. Do not let your membership lapse over these issues; this organization belongs to YOU, the members. Vote your voice. Let your voice be heard! It is urgent that you immediately mark your ballot and promptly return it to the MVPA.

If you are not an MVPA member and you believe that it should be returned to the members, we strongly urge you to immediately join the MVPA and take part in the upcoming election. When you join, let the friendly staff know that “g503.com urged me to join”.

If you agree that these important issues need to be aired publicly, get involved at your local level by bringing these things to light at your next local club meeting or thru a telephone and/or email campaign to your friends and associates.

The time to act is now! Let us join together and conquer complacency. Our collective voice must be heard. We can send a strong message to our Elected Board! Let’s take back OUR MVPA!

Ron’s Goin’ To Beltring

May 29th, 2005

Ron headed out across the Atlantic Ocean

Ron Fitzpatrick, the venerable owner and operator of Ron Fitzpatrick Jeep Parts will be out of town, state and country from July 9th until July 24th. As if that weren’t enough, five days after that he will be on the road to Daluth Minnesota from July 30th until August 10th.

The reason for this notice is simple: If you plan on ordering parts from Ron during the time that he is gone, expect a delay in shipment :)

The Eternal Expansion

May 28th, 2005

Welcome to the words of g503.com! This blog will provide a much needed service to the G as a place to manage news and article-oriented content. One day you may find information about the global exploits of Ron Fitzpatrick and his merry band of Jeep Parts, another may reveal an article on the fascinating technicalities of restoration-correct washers by one of the many legendary personalities within the military vehicle community. So sit back, violate the structural integrity of your favorite beverage container, and partake.
